The Healing is Always Christ: Why This Title?

A bit of explanation is in order when one is beginning a blog and also to explain the title, "The Healing is Always Christ." Through life circumstances, I was involved in a serious, single car accident 10 years ago where I sustained life-threatening injuries: 1) a broken neck, at the C2, which means the second cervical bone in the spine (this break is referred to in layman's terms as the "hangman's break"); 2) a badly broken leg, the fibula and tibia on the right side; 3) break of the coccyx bone; 4) bad gash in my forehead; and other bad bumps and lumps that just had to heal with time. I also had what is called retrograde amnesia. How this played out in the car crash was that about an hour before I wrecked my car- all of that time seems simply "gray" to me, i.e., I remember my husband Royce and I coming out of the Council Grove Hays House Restaurant having had a great dinner- love that place!- and as we continued on our way toward Overland Park: Royce in his dad's truck and I in our Ford Taurus; it were as though everything went to gray just outside of town in my vision, later that was my memory of it.

We drove about an hour from Council Grove on Highway 56 where we were approaching Osage City. I had obviously been awake and alert...one just doesn't drive that far without being coherent (it just seems that all went to a hazy gray color as we left the town after dinner, because of this  amnesia), and then I was aware somewhat and realized that I was swerving the car on the highway, then counter-swerved too hard and knew that an accident was imminent. Even the frantic swerving appears in a haze in my mind/memory, all to this day.
Royce was in front of me in the truck and from his perceptions, I was completely awake as he would look in his rear view mirror as we drove along. Approaching Osage City in the distance on the old Highway 56, still a two-lane highway of rolling hills and farmlands, he saw me swerve and go into the ditch about 12 feet down (by the way, no where else on the road was there this ditch; everything else was only a slight embankment dropping maybe a foot or two). The solid concrete culvert at the end of the ditch stopped me decidedly hard!

Not wanting to bore you, I will continue in the description of what happened and also some other aspects of the healing process in another posting, perhaps more succinctly, but I tell you this story to say that this significant life event drew me ever closer to my God. During the months of recuperation and rehabilitation, I realized that every single breath I take is literally given me as a gift from the One above.  He gave me life, you know.  I can certainly take no credit whatsoever that I was born and have life and Life abundant in Him!  Another important factor that one cannot help but to see is this: God was in charge at the time of the accident, and He moved events and people to help in the emergency. Today, I love seeing how the Lord orchestrates circumstances to move in the favor of His beloved children.

No, we are not puppets in any manner, shape, or form.   He didn't make us that way and has gone to great measures to give us lovingly our free will.  However, He will move heaven and earth to help us in our times of need.

Now, onto other aspects and information for this first installment!

I truly want "The Healing is Always Christ" blog to be interactive with lively discussion on the Lord- the One, true God Jehovah, Who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Have you had times in your life where you have been acutely aware- or maybe later, after what happened- of God's Presence?  What kinds of things did you experience, feel, learn?  Was there a silver lining?  How have you seen God move in your life and the lives of others?  When did you first realize that you are dependant on Jesus Christ?  What kinds of things have brought you closer to Him?

May we reach out to God through reading and understanding of His Word, The Holy Bible, and also to the fellowship of true believers in Jesus Christ as our Lord and the Savior of our lives.

I close with these Scriptures:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:37-40  New International Version (NIV)

He said to them, “You are to go to all the world and preach the Good News to every person."   Mark 16:15   New Life Version (NLV)

May the riches in glory Who is Christ Jesus! abide in you.
